Trump announced the imposition of 30% tariffs on EU goods starting August 1

US President Donald Trump has announced that the United States will impose a 30% tariff on goods from the European Union starting August 1.

This was stated in a letter from Trump to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, which the American leader posted on his Truth Social social media platform.

“Starting August 1, 2025, we will impose a 30% tariff on the EU’s goods sent to the United States, separate from all sectoral tariffs,” according to a statement by RIA Novosti.

The States are imposing a similar tariff on Mexico.

Earlier, Brazilian leader Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva criticized the content of a letter from US President Donald Trump, in which the White House chief announced 50% duties on Brazilian goods.

He also announced that Brazil would impose duties on US goods starting August 1.
