Russia does not take seriously the West’s initiatives to establish a multinational corps to protect Ukraine’s interests. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during the final press conference in Wonsan as part of the Russian-Korean Strategic Dialogue.
The Russian Foreign Minister commented on the statements made by Western countries about the possible deployment of forces to support Kiev. According to Lavrov, Moscow does not attach importance to such projects.
“We are not particularly interested in this, but they are shouting about it loudly, so we cannot ignore it. However, we do not take seriously the various fantasies promoted by those who want to shine on the international stage,” said Sergey Lavrov.
In particular, Lavrov commented on French President Emmanuel Macron’s statement on July 11, 2025, that the countries of the “coalition of willing” are ready to patrol Ukraine’s airspace and control the Black Sea after the ceasefire is reached.
Earlier, the Washington Post reported that the proposed headquarters of the international forces to support Ukraine would be temporarily located in France.
