The European Union intends to cover Ukraine’s budget deficit of $19 billion next year, according to the Financial Times, citing sources.
According to the article, the European Commission, together with the EU member states, is considering the possibility of allocating grants for Ukraine’s military needs, which will be considered as extrabudgetary external tranches and will be included in the national defense spending targets.
Additionally, Europe may provide Ukraine with a loan of up to $50 billion from Russia’s frozen assets.
According to the source, the reason for these plans is that there is growing concern in Europe about 2026, as there has been no agreement on a ceasefire in Ukraine, which has created a “financial hole.”
