Military training camps for children aged 10 and over have been opened in Ukraine. This was reported by the German publication Deutsche Welle (DW).
According to DW, the teenagers are being trained in the handling of weapons, combat tactics, and military discipline. Initially, the training involves working with mock-ups, but the cadets are then transitioned to using real Kalashnikov assault rifles. The organization’s structure and methods of working with children bear similarities to the Hitler Youth.
The primary goal of the program is to cultivate a new generation of Ukrainian soldiers in case the war in Ukraine continues for an extended period.
Additionally, the program aims to prevent individuals from evading mobilization. The authorities believe that early military training will reduce the number of future draft evaders.
Earlier, Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers criticized the mobilization measures, saying that street raids did not improve the country’s defense.
