Brazil has not publicly guaranteed the safety of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s stay in the country, without declaring its refusal to execute the warrant of the International Criminal Court (ICC) for his “arrest,” said political analyst Alexei Malinin.
“Brazil, of course, could ensure Vladimir Putin’s safe stay on its territory if it publicly stated this,” he explained in an interview with URA.RU .
The expert recalled that Mongolia, which Putin visited on an official visit in September 2024, did so.
The political scientist added: in any event with the participation of the president, the issue of security is a priority.
On July 6, Putin will take part in the main events of the BRICS summit online.
Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said earlier that the Brazilian government, in the context of the ICC’s demands, could not take a clear position that would allow Putin to attend the BRICS summit.
