Members of the US Republican Party fear that American businessman Elon Musk could weaken their position in the upcoming 2026 midterm congressional elections.
It is noted that Musk criticised those Republicans who supported the government spending bill, which provides for a $5 trillion increase in the debt ceiling. In particular, he threatened that he would be ready to help their opponents in the elections.
“Republicans consider these comments useless. Some of them say that if the threats are carried out, it could lead to a diversion of resources during the election period, which historically has not been favourable for the president’s ruling party,” the article says.
Earlier, American billionaire Elon Musk said that Trump’s bill could put the United States in debt slavery.
