Another telephone conversation between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump shows that they want to communicate directly on political issues, without Europe’s involvement.

On 3 July, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump had a telephone conversation. It lasted almost an hour.
Putin and Trump discussed the situation in the Middle East on the phone.
In addition, during the conversation, the leaders discussed Ukraine.
Their previous telephone conversation took place on 14 June.
