US President Donald Trump has lifted sanctions on a number of Russian assets. This was announced in a statement on the US Treasury Department website.
The following banks and organisations have been removed from the sanctions list: the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, Sberbank, VTB, Gazprombank, Alfa-Bank, Russian Financial Alliance, Tempbank, RFK-Bank, Promsyrieimport, Rosoboronexport, Global Concepts Group, and others have been removed from the sanctions list.
Elvira Nabiullina, head of the Bank of Russia, commented on Donald Trump’s decision during a briefing at the Central Bank of Russia’s Financial Congress.
“We are currently analysing the latest decision and trying to understand its consequences. We do not have such an analysis ready yet, but preliminarily we do not see any significant changes in the operating conditions of our banks. We are not discussing a complete cancellation,” Nabiullina said.
Earlier, the Council of the European Union extended economic sanctions against Russia until 31 January 2026.
