The EU has extended economic sanctions against Russia until January 31, 2026.

The European Union has extended economic sanctions against Russia until January 31, 2026. The corresponding statement is published on the website of the Council of the EU.

“Today, the EU Council extended the restrictive measures in connection with Russia’s actions… for another six months, until January 31, 2026,” the press release says.

Earlier, Politico wrote that EU countries may adopt a new package of anti-Russian sanctions after July 1, when the presidency will pass from Poland to Denmark.

On June 27, the EU failed to adopt the 18th package of sanctions against Russia, as Slovakia vetoed it.
