The NATO summit has decided on a five percent defense spending — Trump has gotten his way, Bild reports

In the final declaration of the NATO summit in The Hague, the allies adopted a new goal of investing 5% of their GDP annually in defense and security by no later than 2035. In response, the alliance members expect Trump to no longer question the U.S.’s Article 5 commitment.

“European countries have not spent this much on defense since the Cold War. Previously, the NATO target was 2% of GDP,” writes Bild.

The next NATO summit is scheduled to be held in Turkey in 2026, and in Albania in 2027.
