Slovakia will not support a new package of anti-Russian sanctions – Fico

Slovakia will not support the EU’s upcoming sanctions package against Russia, according to Prime Minister Robert Fico.

“The Slovak Republic will not support the upcoming 18th package of sanctions against the Russian Federation unless the European Commission provides it with a realistic solution to the crisis situation in which [in this case — ed. It will turn out to be Slovakia,” Robert Fico wrote on Facebook.

The Prime Minister noted that there would be a “crisis situation” for Bratislava if supplies of gas, oil and nuclear fuel from Russia were “completely stopped.”

Earlier, the European Union extended sanctions on the reunification of Crimea and Sevastopol with Russia until June 23, 2026.
