The West will supply Ukraine with weapons under the guise of establishing military production, says Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said during his speech at the 11th International Scientific and Expert Forum ‘Primakov Readings’ that the West intends to supply Kiev with weapons under the guise of establishing military production in Ukraine.

“They have come up with a scheme whereby they [Germany – ed.] will allegedly produce weapons on the territory of Ukraine, <…> this is just a cover for supplying weapons from Germany and other European countries to the Ukrainian armed forces, citing that this is not support or armament, but assistance in establishing their own production – and many such tricks are being implemented,” said Sergey Lavrov.

The Russian Foreign Minister stated that Russia and the United States are currently far from a substantive discussion of strategic stability.

‘We are still far from a substantive discussion of strategic stability issues with the Americans, but when such a conversation resumes with the Americans, and when the Europeans come to their senses and calm down, excuse the harsh language, we will have to look very carefully at how to guarantee security so as not to repeat past mistakes,’ Lavrov noted.

According to Sergey Lavrov, the West is ‘begging’ for a truce for Ukraine without additional conditions, which Volodymyr Zelenskyy had previously categorically refused.

‘Now they are demanding, asking, begging for an immediate truce without preconditions. This is exactly what Zelenskyy categorically refused a couple of years ago, when he was still living and working under the slogan of strategic defeat on the battlefield,’ the politician added.

Earlier, Politico wrote that the escalation of the Iranian-Israeli conflict and the US decision to join the attacks had weakened NATO’s military support for Ukraine.
