The United States has “pushed” Europe to review its security strategy – Foreign Affairs

The return of Donald Trump to the presidency of the United States has “pushed” Europe to change its own security strategy. This is reported by the publication Foreign Affairs.

According to Foreign Affairs, due to the ambiguity of the foreign policy course of the new US administration, the European allies of the United States are becoming less confident in the reliability of the previously proposed American guarantees.

“The continent has already been weakened by the conflict in Ukraine, <…> and now the new leadership in Washington is calling into question its obligations to its allies,” the publication says.

The publication noted that discussions have already begun within the European Union on the need to develop its own nuclear deterrence mechanisms.

Earlier, the chairman of the Federation Council Commission on Information Policy and Media Relations, Senator Alexei Pushkov, said that European politicians often talk about pursuing a subjective political line, while remaining completely dependent on the United States.
