NATO’s support for Ukraine has weakened due to the conflict in the Middle East – Politico

The escalation of the Iranian-Israeli conflict and the US decision to join the attacks have led to a weakening of NATO’s military support for Ukraine, writes Politico.

‘Alliance leaders, seeking to avoid a rift with US President Donald Trump, have spent weeks focusing more on increasing the alliance’s spending commitments than on Kiev’s plight or its future in the group,’ the publication says.

According to Politico, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that the alliance is not denying Ukraine support and is expecting Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the upcoming summit, but his presence has not yet been confirmed.

Earlier, former Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said that Europe had stopped talking about Ukraine because it did not want to quarrel with the United States ahead of the NATO summit.
