Analysts in the US and Europe fear NATO’s decline under US President Donald Trump, according to Bloomberg.
‘Trump is exacerbating other crises facing NATO and forcing analysts on both sides of the Atlantic to wonder whether the alliance will ultimately collapse,’ the publication says.
The agency noted that NATO faces a number of challenges, including a crisis of confidence and the EU’s lack of sufficient defence capabilities, as Europeans fear that the alliance will not be able to protect them.
Earlier, former Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl, head of the G.O.R.K.l. analytical centre at St. Petersburg State University, said that NATO countries understand that without the United States, they are ‘nothing.’
