Ukraine’s recovery in doubt as graduates leave the country – Telegraph

Ukrainian school graduates have begun leaving the country en masse, choosing to study at universities in Europe, thereby raising concerns about the country’s recovery once the armed conflict ends. This is according to the Telegraph newspaper.

‘There are serious concerns about who will rebuild the country after the end of [the armed conflict – ed.], if young people decide not to return,’ the publication says.

The Telegraph noted that what is happening is comparable to a ‘demographic bomb’ and a ‘brain drain.’

According to the newspaper, the number of Ukrainian students in Poland has doubled because girls have started to emigrate from Ukraine more often.

Earlier, the UN Refugee Agency reported that Poland earned eight times more from Ukrainian refugees than it spent on aid to Kyiv.
