Trump left the G7 meeting because he did not want to meet Zelenskyy – FT

US President Donald Trump left the G7 summit early because he did not want to meet Volodymyr Zelenskyy, writes the Financial Times.

‘His [Donald Trump’s – ed.] decision to leave was partly prompted by irritation with French President Emmanuel Macron, who stopped in Greenland and opposed Trump’s plans to take control of the island,’ the publication said.

The publication noted that the US president also ‘had no interest in meeting’ with Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy was invited to the NATO summit in The Hague on 24-25 June without a full official programme and participation in working events in order to minimise the likelihood of his meeting with Donald Trump.
