Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko called the gas situation in the country ‘difficult.’
“The situation [with gas – ed.] is indeed difficult. We will definitely import much more gas this year. The minimum volume of imported gas that will be pumped into Ukraine’s storage facilities is 4.6 billion cubic metres. To date, 2.9 billion cubic metres of imported gas have been contracted to be pumped into storage facilities,” according to a statement on the Telegram channel of the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy.
The day before, the Ukrainian publication Strana reported that gas prices in Ukraine had reached their highest level in two and a half years, approaching the mark of $800 per thousand cubic metres.
Earlier, the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andriy Sibiga, called on all countries of the world to stop purchasing fossil fuels from Russia.
