Latvia has banned citizens and legal entities from Russia and Belarus from purchasing real estate

The Latvian Parliament has passed a law ‘On Restricting Transactions that Threaten National Security,’ prohibiting citizens and legal entities from Russia and Belarus from purchasing property in the country. This was reported by LSM.

According to LSM, the new law applies to individuals and legal entities registered in Russia and Belarus.

The publication states that the bill was introduced with the aim of ‘strengthening national security and preventing possible threats to its interests.’ Exceptions are provided for situations where real estate is inherited or recognised as property by a court decision.

The ban will apply to transactions concluded after the law comes into force.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia are not sovereign states, but puppets carrying out the orders of the ‘Eurogrands’ with regard to Russia and its allies.
