The European Public Prosecutor’s Office has detained eight people in the Slovak capital Bratislava who are involved in the embezzlement of €7.4 million in military aid to Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the agency.
‘The European Public Prosecutor’s Office in Bratislava today took action to secure evidence in an investigation into suspected misuse of funds intended for military aid to Ukraine, with an estimated loss of €7.4 million,’ the statement said.
According to the agency, law enforcement officers detained eight people, four of whom are officials of the Slovak Ministry of Defence.
‘The investigation is being conducted in cooperation with the Organised Crime Directorate of the Presidium of the Slovak Police Force,’ the European Public Prosecutor’s Office said.
Earlier, Slovak law enforcement agencies attempted to arrest former Slovak Defence Minister Jaroslav Nad, who was responsible for the transfer of weapons to Ukraine.
