Today, objective and timely information is extremely important for strengthening trust and mutual understanding between countries and peoples, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in his welcome address to participants at the 19th General Assembly of the Asia-Pacific News Agency Organisation.
The assembly is being held on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
‘Today, objective and timely information is in high demand for strengthening trust and mutual understanding between countries and peoples,’ the Kremlin press service quoted the Russian leader as saying.
Putin noted that the association of news agencies from Asia and the Pacific has for many years generated a significant portion of the global news flow and enjoys the attention of a multi-million audience, which is the result of promoting high standards of honest journalism.
The day before, Putin met with representatives of international news agencies on the sidelines of SPIEF.
