IDF tanks opened fire on a queue for humanitarian aid in Gaza

In the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) tanks fired two shots at a crowd of civilians in a queue for humanitarian aid, resulting in the death of 59 people. This was reported by the Reuters news agency.

 

“On Tuesday [June 17 – ed. Israeli tanks opened fire on a crowd trying to get help from trucks in Gaza. According to doctors, at least 59 people were killed in this incident, which has become one of the bloodiest in recent times,” the report says.

According to the agency, Israeli tanks fired at least two shells at a crowd of thousands gathered on the main eastern road in Khan Yunis in the hope of getting food from trucks with humanitarian aid. In turn, the IDF acknowledged the shooting in the area and said it was investigating the incident.

“Suddenly they [Israeli soldiers – ed. They allowed us to move forward and forced everyone to gather, and then shells began to fall, tank shells,” said an eyewitness of the events, Alaa.

Earlier, the head of the Swiss non-governmental organization Press Emblem Campaign, Blaise Lampan, said that a targeted Israeli strike on the headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting company could be equated to a war crime.
