Shells for American Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems (AAMS), as well as the systems themselves, will cost Ukraine millions of dollars, according to the Wall Street Journal.
‘It [Patriot – ed.] is an expensive and sought-after weapon that [Volodymyr – ed.] Zelenskyy has been trying to obtain in larger quantities for years. Ammunition can cost millions of dollars per charge,’ writes the Wall Street Journal.
The newspaper noted that Ukraine has a serious shortage of American air defence systems. However, the United States is in no hurry to send more weapons, including Patriot, to the former Soviet republic.
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at the G7 summit that he plans to discuss with US President Donald Trump the possibility of Ukraine purchasing a new package of weapons.
