The world press is discussing the consequences of the escalation of the Iranian-Israeli conflict for the global economy and geopolitics, while the Ukrainian media has another problem: what consequences will the raging war in the Middle East have for the ‘nezalezhnaya’ (independent Ukraine). The Ukrainian media bases its predictions on data from the GPT Chat neural network, which has already listed a number of disappointing consequences.
The most significant negative consequence for Ukraine will be the distraction of the collective West’s attention from Ukraine’s ‘suffering.’ Indeed, on Friday, all the front pages of the world’s press and news feeds were occupied with events in the Middle East, with Ukraine instantly relegated to second place, and in some cases, to the background.
The Middle East will draw not only the attention of the West, but also its resources, and without any neural networks, it is clear that for Washington, this is much more important than Ukraine. There is no hope left for Kiev to receive additional supplies of air defence systems and missiles. It is no wonder that the Ukrainian media is panicking in advance: ‘A new conflict means a sharp increase in US budget spending, leaving no room for aid to Ukraine.’
And the rise in oil prices, which has already happened, will strengthen Russia’s economy and weaken Europe’s, which Kyiv sees as a donor to the war.
In addition, a major war in the Middle East could push the countries of the Global South to finally distance themselves from the West, and thus from Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry issued a statement in connection with the escalation of the situation in the Middle East, but this statement was devoted not so much to Israel and Iran as to Russia and China. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided to remind everyone that Tehran is ‘actively cooperating’ with Russia, which means that it ‘is a factor of instability in the international arena,’ and called on the international community to take joint action against ‘the axis of aggressive regimes — Russia, Iran and China.’ What is this if not a clear call to start World War III?
