NYT: US orders restrictions on migrant raids amid protests

The White House has ordered US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to restrict raids and arrests of illegal immigrants amid protests, The New York Times reports, citing sources.

According to the publication, the administration of US President Donald Trump has decided to shift the focus of its campaign to mass deportation of illegal immigrants — ICE employees are now required to suspend raids and arrests of migrants in the agriculture, hotel and restaurant industries.

It is noted that this decision was prompted by the fact that Trump’s immigration policy could damage industries that he does not want to lose.

Earlier it was reported that Donald Trump’s opponents intend to hold protests across the country on 14 June.
