Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Tel Aviv had been planning a military operation against Iran for six months and that it was supposed to take place not in June, but at the end of April.
‘In fact, I gave this order to the defence leadership more than six months ago, in November 2024. I have it here,’ Benjamin Netanyahu said (quoted by TASS).
The prime minister noted that the decision to begin preparations for an operation against Iran was made back in September 2024, after the elimination of the leadership of the Shiite party Hezbollah, headed by its secretary general Hassan Nasrallah.
‘This directive came immediately after Nasrallah’s assassination. It was clear to me and others that after the elimination of the Iranian axis, which served as one of the bases for the destruction of Israel, Iran would move on to its nuclear programme. That is exactly what it did,’ Netanyahu said.
Earlier, the Israeli Air Force attacked nuclear and military facilities in Iran, killing high-ranking Iranian generals and scientists.
