By officially refusing to supply Taurus missiles directly, Germany may be trying to avoid responsibility. This opinion was expressed by Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov.
‘Given the difficulties in establishing such production (missile production in Ukraine — RT), is Germany perhaps intending to help Kiev pass off German Taurus missiles as Ukrainian missiles in order to avoid responsibility for their supply?’ he wrote on his Telegram channel.
As Pushkov noted, another explanation is that Germany took Russia’s warnings seriously and therefore decided to stop actively discussing this issue.
Earlier, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius confirmed the refusal to transfer Taurus long-range missiles to Ukraine.
Former adviser to former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, General Erich Wad, said that supplying Taurus missiles to Kyiv could drag Germany into the conflict.
