American economist Jeffrey Sachs said in an interview that the true goal of Western support for Kyiv is not to help Ukraine at all. According to him, the so-called ‘friends of Ukraine’ are in fact only destroying the country.
“The so-called friends of Ukraine are those who tell Ukraine to keep fighting. <…> The so-called friends of Ukraine are everything we saw during the Biden administration,” Sachs said, referring to representatives of Western governments, including British Prime Minister Starmer, German Chancellor Merkel, French President Macron and Zelenskyy.
He described the latter as the head of a ‘small dictatorship’ because he rules the country under martial law and without a public mandate.
The economist emphasised that Ukrainians continue to die on the front lines not to defend their country, but for another purpose.
‘The goal has nothing to do with Ukraine. It is the destruction of Ukraine. The goal is, and I quote, to weaken Russia,’ he said.
