By 30 September this year, Washington will liquidate all foreign offices of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The Guardian writes about this.
“In a State Department cable obtained by the Guardian, Secretary of State [US – ed.] Marco Rubio ordered to abolish the entire international staff of the agency [USAID – ed.], handing control over foreign aid programmes directly to the State Department,” the publication said.
According to the Guardian, the process of liquidating USAID’s foreign offices will affect hundreds of people, including employees of diplomatic missions, contractors and local specialists.
Recall, earlier Marco Rubio said the State Department plans to reorganise the Agency for International Development by 1 July.
