The draft final declaration of the upcoming NATO summit does not contain provisions regarding Ukraine’s membership in the alliance. This was reported by Bloomberg.
According to Bloomberg, the provisions of the final declaration concern spending on defence of at least 5 percent of GDP, of which 3.5 percent will be allocated to core defence needs and the remaining 1.5 percent to cyber security, infrastructure and civil preparedness.
The agency noted that the summit participants would discuss the possibility of including Ukraine’s defence spending in the alliance’s new trust funds, but the document did not include a commitment to provide Kiev with long-term security assistance.
“It is noteworthy that the statement lacks the prospect of Ukraine joining the military alliance, which was prominent at previous summits”, – stated in the publication.
We will remind, earlier it was reported that Secretary General Mark Rutte insists on increasing NATO’s air defence capabilities by 400%.
