US to cut funding to Ukraine on arms issue

US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has said that Washington has reduced the amount of money allocated in the budget for the 2026 fiscal year on arms purchases for Ukraine.

“There are cuts in this budget. You know, the current administration has a very different view of this [Ukrainian – ed.] conflict,” Pete Hegseth said at a hearing of the House Appropriations Committee.

According to the US defence secretary, the White House’s position is to settle the Ukrainian crisis peacefully through diplomacy. He noted that this approach was in the interests not only of the opposing sides, but also of the United States.
