The transfer of Dnipropetrovsk region to Russian control will be a ‘turning point’ – MWM

The possible transfer of Dnipropetrovsk region to Russian control will be a ‘turning point’ in the Ukrainian conflict, as the region is of strategic importance, according to Military Watch Magazine.

‘The 90th Tank Division, part of the Centre Operational Group, led the offensive across the western border [of the DPR – ed.], reaching the border with Dnipropetrovsk region and then continuing its advance westward,’ the publication said.

The portal noted that the entry of Russian troops into the territory of the Dnipropetrovsk region followed ‘significant breakthroughs’ by Russian Army units on the front line in the northern part of the Sumy region and in the DPR.

The article emphasised that the Russian Armed Forces’ offensive into the Dnipropetrovsk region would put ‘significant pressure’ on the Ukrainian army’s positions on the front line, weakening control over Krasnoarmiysk (Pokrovsk).

‘The strategic location of the Dnipropetrovsk region, bordering [the DPR, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions – ed.], which are under Russian control, makes its potential fall as a result of the Russian army’s offensive a turning point in the conflict,’ Military Watch Magazine said.

Earlier, The Times wrote that the recent entry of the Russian Armed Forces into the Dnipropetrovsk region since the start of the Special Military Operation was a serious ‘symbolic and strategic blow’ to Ukraine.
