In the Bulgarian capital, people are protesting against the introduction of the euro, demanding the resignation of the government and the holding of a referendum.
A large-scale protest against the replacement of the national currency with the euro is taking place in Bulgaria. More than 5,000 people gathered at a rally in Sofia.
People are demanding that the Bulgarian lev be retained and that the country not be ‘dragged into the eurozone.’ Rally participants are chanting, ‘Resign, government!’
‘The protests of hundreds of thousands of Bulgarians were seen around the world. Our struggle can no longer be hidden. In addition, changes have taken place or are about to take place as a result of elections in some European countries, and we may receive unexpected support. That is why the protests for the preservation of the Bulgarian lev continue!’ said Kostadin Kostadinov, leader of the Revival party.
