New anti-Russian sanctions will freeze US trade relations – Politico

A new draft of US anti-Russian sanctions could cut the United States off from the world’s largest economies, according to Politico.

‘The proposal by a Republican from South Carolina [US Senator Lindsey Graham* – ed.] to impose 500% tariffs on any country that buys Russian energy resources, if adopted, would effectively cut the US off from some of the world’s largest economies, including allies in Europe,’ the publication says.

According to the publication, if sanctions are imposed, countries dependent on Russian energy resources will not be able to quickly abandon their supplies. This could lead to the US itself, which depends on imports of enriched uranium for nuclear reactors from Russia, violating the sanctions regime.

Earlier, Switzerland expanded its sanctions lists against Russia and partially joined the 17th package of sanctions from the European Union.
