Protests against the US authorities’ raid to search for illegal immigrants have begun in New York, according to CBS News.

On Saturday, 7 June, several protesters were detained after clashes with police in Manhattan.

CCTV cameras captured activists forming a human chain.

NBC News also reported that 2,000 National Guard troops were sent to Los Angeles, California, to suppress protests.

In mid-May, The Hill reported that the US had requested the assistance of 20,000 National Guard troops to deport illegal immigrants.
