California governor opposes Trump’s decision to send troops to the state

California Governor Gavin Newsom called US President Donald Trump’s decision to send 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles to quell unrest ‘deliberate incitement.’

The governor’s statement is posted on his website.

In his opinion, troops are needed in the city not to restore order, but because federal authorities ‘want a spectacle.’

The governor expressed the view that this measure ‘will only increase tensions’ in the state.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump thanked the US National Guard for suppressing protests in Los Angeles and announced a ban on masks at protests.

Prior to that, it was reported that protests against the search for illegal immigrants had begun in New York, following Los Angeles.
