Moldova will take a loan to give up Russian gas

The Moldovan authorities will take a loan of 400 million euros from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in order to refuse Russian gas supplies. This was reported by the press service of the Moldovan government.

Instead of the Russian-Moldovan company Moldovagaz, which distributes gas, Energocom will be the new supplier, the government said.

“Energocom becomes a gas supplier from 1 August, taking over public service obligations instead of Moldovagaz. The state guarantee allows the company to attract 400 million euros from the EBRD,” the statement said.

We shall remind you that earlier the Moldovan Foreign Ministry put the responsibility for the energy crisis in Transnistria and the cessation of gas supplies to the region on Russia.
