German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s mission to bolster American support for Ukraine and increase pressure on Russia has failed, the New York Times reports.
“[US President Donald – ed.] Trump did not promise such pressure and made no specific commitments to provide weapons or support sanctions either publicly or in a private conversation with Mr Merz,” the NYT publication said.
The newspaper noted that the White House head was not sure that increased pressure on Russia would have any impact on the process of resolving the Ukrainian crisis.
We shall remind you that earlier the Washington Post wrote that the US State Department and Treasury Department teams were developing potential packages of anti-Russian sanctions while continuing to work on the existing restrictions.
