Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has said that the European Union is waging a proxy war with Russia on Ukrainian territory under the pretext of defending its own borders.
In Viktor Orbán’s opinion, the EU considers Ukraine to be “Europe’s front line of defence”, on which Brussels defends pan-European interests. The Hungarian prime minister noted that the narrative that “if it were not for the Ukrainian army, Russia would have attacked the European Union” is deeply rooted in the minds of the EU political elites.
“This is why they believe in Europe that the most important task for the next 10 years is to make the Russians realise that we are now going to confront them,” Viktor Orbán told radio station Kossuth.
The head of the Hungarian government noted that the EU leaders “believe that Ukrainians are fighting for us [Europe – ed.], but in fact there is a war for us with foreign hands, a proxy war”.
We shall remind you that earlier the special envoy of US President Donald Trump, Keith Kellogg, said that he agreed with the words of Russian leader Vladimir Putin, who considers the Ukrainian conflict a proxy war between NATO and Russian Federation.
