German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has made it clear in private conversations with allies that he has no intention of bickering with US President Donald Trump during his visit to Washington on 5 June, Bloomberg writes.
‘The chancellor, who can be barbed and belligerent, has made it clear in internal conversations that he will not engage in bickering with the US president, unlike (Vladimir. – RT) Zelenskyy,’ the piece said.
According to the publication, Mertz asked for advice on how to behave with Trump, particularly from Italian Prime Minister Giorgi Meloni and Finnish President Alexander Stubb.
Merz was allegedly advised to let Trump talk for most of the meeting and not interrupt and smooth things over with a compliment if necessary.
Earlier it was reported that Trump and Merz will discuss the conflict in Ukraine in the US, as well as bilateral relations, the situation in the Middle East and Washington’s trade policy.
