Istanbul talks were needed for Russia’s victory, not a compromise peace – Medvedev

The deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, has said that the talks on the settlement of the armed conflict in Ukraine held in Istanbul on 2 June this year were necessary for Russia’s early victory rather than for finding compromises.

“The talks in Istanbul are needed not for a compromise peace on unrealistic conditions invented by someone else, but for our swift victory and the complete destruction of the neo-Nazi authorities [in Ukraine – ed.]. This is the meaning of the Russian memorandum that was published yesterday [2 June – ed.],” Medvedev wrote in his Telegram channel.

The politician noted that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continued an active offensive in the zone of the special military operation.

We shall remind you that earlier Russia presented the full text of the memorandum on the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, which consists of three sections.
