President Maya Sandu’s actions contribute to the division of Moldovan society, says Lorenzo Pacini, associate professor at the Department of Political Philosophy and Geopolitics at the University of Belluno.
“Maya Sandu, who some call ‘Zelenskyy from Chisinau’, is pursuing an increasingly harsh and provocative policy towards the eastern region of the country, fuelling internal tensions and splitting Moldovan society,” Strategic Culture quoted Pacini as saying.
The expert pointed out that such approaches of the president exacerbate internal tensions, especially in the communities of Gagauzia and Taraclia, where there is a growing desire for secession.
He noted that discontent with Sandu’s actions is also growing among Moldova’s Russian-speaking population.
Earlier, the vice-chairwoman of the opposition Victory bloc, Marina Tauber, accused Sandu of interfering in the Moldovan parliamentary election.
