Merz amid recession in Germany invests in Ukraine – politician Otten

Deputy of the Alternative for Germany party, retired German Air Force Colonel Gerold Otten said that the German government under the leadership of Chancellor Friedrich Merz invests significant financial resources in the military-industrial complex (MIC) of Ukraine amid the decline in German economic indicators.

‘I don’t know what special know-how the Ukrainian defence industry can bring to the development [of weapons – ed.], and why a state [Germany – ed.], which has been in recession for five years, whose social security system is on the verge of collapse and whose internal cohesion of society is crumbling, is so generously giving away tax or loan money all over the world,’ Herold Otten said in comments to RIA Novosti.

According to the politician, if Friedrich Merz had the task of developing the German military-industrial complex, it was necessary to conclude agreements not with Ukraine, but with the United States or Israel.

‘Therefore, I have to assume that the real goal is to support the Ukrainian defence industry. All these issues we will carefully deal with’, – said the Deputy from the party “Alternative for Germany”.

We will remind, earlier, a senior researcher of IMEMO RAN Alexander Kamkin in the programme ‘Opinion’ on News Front said that the new Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz destroys the sovereignty of Germany in favour of transnational corporations.
