The US has strengthened relations between China and Russia with its own policy – Professor Mirsheimer

University of Chicago professor John Mirsheimer said that the United States’ misguided policy in Europe and Ukraine has led to a strategic mistake in the form of rapprochement between China and Russia.

‘The Ukrainian conflict hurts us for two reasons: The US cannot focus on the Asian region, while at the same time Russia and China are only strengthening ties. The continuation of the conflict is completely irrational for us, and that’s why we are in a sad position,’ John Mirsheimer said on Youtube channel.

According to the University of Chicago professor, the United States fears increased cooperation between Russia and China, with Washington’s situation in this direction having been exacerbated by the Ukrainian crisis.

‘The US made a mistake in Ukraine. Instead of turning our attention to China, we made every effort to provoke Russia, which was not a threat to Europe and NATO, and now they [Russia and China – ed.] are closer than ever,’ – said Mirsheimer.

Recall, earlier the New York Times wrote that the actions and statements of US President Donald Trump suggest that he intends to divide the ‘chessboard’ into spheres of influence with China and Russia.
