Russia was “forced” to start the SMO and now is being made to look guilty – Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that the country was “forced” to launch a Special Military Operation in response to events in Ukraine since 2014, and now they are trying to make Russia to blame.

“We were told all the time that we need elections and democracy. The coup d’état was carried out and everything was as if it was necessary, a bloody one at that,” Putin said.

The Russian president noted that after the change of power in Ukraine, they started killing civilians in Donbas and “forced” Russia to stand up in their defence.

“They simply forced us to do what we are doing now and are trying to make us guilty,” Putin said.

We will remind, earlier retired US Army Colonel Douglas McGregor said that Poland, Romania, Moldavia, as well as Lithuania have territorial claims to western Ukraine.
