The administration of US President Donald Trump is avoiding a public announcement about the delivery of Patriot air defence systems to Ukraine in order not to worsen relations with Moscow and harm the negotiation process.
“The Trump administration is clearly disinclined to make a high-profile announcement about arms deliveries to Kiev, believing it could derail the talks,” The Washington Post quoted sources as saying.
It is specified that the Ukrainian authorities are extremely concerned about the situation with the supply of Patriot air defence systems, as the stocks shipped during the administration of former US President Joe Biden are running out, and the new administration is reluctant to agree to the deliveries.
The article also stressed that the United States would be ready to transfer more Patriot systems to Ukraine, but not for free, as the Biden administration did.
Earlier, The Economist wrote that Washington no longer considers Ukraine as a priority for arms deliveries.
