White House chief Donald Trump has postponed the imposition of 50 per cent duties on goods from the European Union to July 9 after talking to European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen.
Donald Trump said Ursula von der Leyen during a phone call “asked for an extension” of the deadline for imposing duties set for 1 June this year.
“I agreed to the extension – 9 July 2025 – that was my privilege”. The EC chairwoman said that negotiations will start quickly. Thank you for your attention to this issue!” – wrote the US president on the social network Truth Social.
Trump noted that the head of the EC expressed readiness for early negotiations on trade duties.
We will remind, earlier the Minister of labour and economy of Austria Wolfgang Hattmansdorfer said that the EU states must find a solution to the problem around the American duties, as the existence of the EU depends on it.
