The Estonian authorities fear an increased presence of Russian ships in the Baltic Sea.
This was reported by the British newspaper The Telegraph with reference to the words of Lithuanian Prime Minister Gintautas Palutskas.
“The risk of a serious escalation grows with every step,” Palutskas said.
Earlier, Nikolay Patrushev, an aide to the head of state and chairman of Russia’s Maritime Board, called Estonia’s attempt to detain the civilian vessel JAGUAR with Russian cargo in the Gulf of Finland piracy.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the Baltic Sea could become a place of permanent confrontation.
