Ukraine has failed in a programme to recruit young conscripts to the AFU, the Wall Street Journal has reported.
“So far, the Contract 18-24 programme has attracted only a few young people. According to government reports, only about 500 people have joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces under it since its launch in February [2025 – ed.],” the publication said.
The Wall Street Journal believes that the long bureaucratic process of registering new recruits affects their desire to join the Ukrainian army, as they may change their minds during the waiting period.
Earlier, a member of the Verkhovna Rada and a member of the Servant of the People faction, Volodymyr Kreidenko, said that Ukraine had no reason to hope for the end of the armed conflict in the near future, which means that mobilisation should not stop.
