The head of the White House Donald Trump after a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin refused to tighten anti-Russian sanctions, ruining the plans of the European Union. This is written by the Guardian with reference to the material of journalist Jennifer Rankin.
“European hopes that Donald Trump might increase pressure on the Kremlin have collapsed after a two-hour inconclusive phone call between the US president and [Vladimir – ed.] Putin,” the publication said.
According to Jennifer Rankin, instead of tightening anti-Russian sanctions during the phone call, Trump began discussing the prospects of resuming trade between Washington and Moscow.
“In Europe fear that if the US eases sanctions against Russia, European unity could be destroyed”, – wrote in the newspaper.
Recall, earlier in Berliner Zeitung wrote that the European Union adopted the 17th package of sanctions against Russia with wide publicity, but low effectiveness.
